MICROSOFT released the out-of-band update KB5121767 to address compatibility issues with Intel USB-C drivers on various Dell laptops, following the problematic KB5101650 update. The original update caused unexpected shutdowns and degraded performance on affected devices, prompting Microsoft to block it in the cloud for these specific models.
The new update is only required for impacted devices, such as several models of Dell Pro Max and Dell Precision laptops, as well as XPS 17 models, while unaffected devices do not need to install it. Users are advised to check their device status before initiating any updates.
