Jaguar Land Rover Admits Data Breach Caused by Recent Cyberattack
Jaguar Land Rover has admitted that the recent cyberattack, which caused factory shutdowns, also resulted in a data breach, though it has not disclosed what data might have been stolen. The incident emerged after the company said it extended the shutdown of manufacturing facilities while it continued restoring affected systems, with factories in the UK, China, Slovakia and India impacted.
As part of its update, JLR stated that some data has been affected and that regulators are being informed as the forensic investigation proceeds. The cybercrime group Scattered Spider has taken credit for the attack, a claim noted by SecurityWeek. The disclosure comes after JLR previously attributed factory disruptions to the cyberattack and marks what SecurityWeek described as a second cyber incident affecting the company this year. According to SecurityWeek, JLR is continuing its investigation and will contact individuals if their data is found to be impacted.
