THE U.S. Department of Justice reported that Chinese government hackers have utilized tools named 'QScan' and 'QTRouter' since 2018 to infiltrate multiple federal agencies including the Federal Reserve, Department of Energy, DOJ, U.S. Senate, and NASA. Developed by Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company, these tools were primarily used by the Ministry of State Security and People's Liberation Army for cyberattacks.
QScan was capable of scanning and infecting Internet of Things (IoT) devices, while QTRouter functioned as an obfuscation network, disguising the attackers' origins and misdirecting blame onto local or foreign entities. The state-sponsored group 'QTFY' was specifically linked to these cyber intrusions targeting critical U.S. infrastructure.
