Apple Unveils iPhone Air: The Thinnest, Lightest, and Most Durable iPhone Ever

Apple has unveiled the iPhone Air, billed as the thinnest and lightest iPhone yet, with a thickness of 5.6mm and a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display supporting ProMotion up to 120Hz and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. The chassis is crafted from 80% recycled polished titanium, touted as delivering triple the scratch resistance and quadruple the impact durability, and the device will be sold exclusively as an eSIM model worldwide.

Power comes from the A19 Pro chip, alongside Apple’s first in-house N1 chip for Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and Thread, and a C1X networking chip that supposedly offers improved energy efficiency. The camera system has been streamlined to a single-lens body, featuring a 48MP sensor with 12MP 2x telephoto functionality and 4K60p Dolby Vision video, with an 18MP front-facing camera that can record simultaneously with the rear camera thanks to the A19 Pro. Preorders begin today, with official sales starting on 19 September, and pricing starting at $999 with storage options from 256GB to 1TB.
