Northstar Security launches with $7 million seed funding
Northstar Security has emerged from stealth with $7 million in seed funding led by Wing Venture Capital, with investments from MVP, Outliers, and cybersecurity veterans Gerhard Eschelbeck, Renaud Deraison, and Justin Somaini. The company plans to deploy AI agents to map and monitor how identities, assets and vulnerabilities connect, building a real-time Security Context Graph that updates as systems change.
Northstar says the graph highlights “toxic combinations” where separate control gaps—such as a vulnerability, an unmanaged device, or an account with excessive privileges—collectively expose critical business systems. An example cited is a laptop without endpoint protection whose owner can reach a payroll system, illustrating how risks can compound beyond any single issue.
Northstar’s platform is designed for analysts to query findings in plain language, with agents that can initiate fixes, notify users, or constrain access as appropriate, while allowing oversight. The company also enables external AI agents to access the graph via its Model Context Protocol (MCP) to build custom security workflows. Northstar reports connections to more than 70 enterprise security and IT products, including Okta, GitHub, Workday, Microsoft Defender and Entra, AWS and Google Cloud.
Amer Deeba, the CEO and co-founder, said security teams are overwhelmed by data but lack context. The seed funding will be used to develop the platform further, hire staff, and expand go-to-market efforts, according to SecurityWeek.
