CSA Unveils SaaS Security Controls Framework to Ease Complexity
According to Cloud Security Alliance, the CSA’s SaaS Working Group has developed a SaaS Security Capability Framework (SSCF) to reduce the complexity of securing multiple SaaS applications by standardising customer-facing controls. Version 1.0 defines six primary SaaS security domains, each with a specified number of required controls; examples include DSP-SaaS-01 (the ability to block malicious uploads) and IAM-SaaS-01 (user access visibility).
The framework aims to provide a standardised set of configuration hooks across SaaS offerings so customers can meet their responsibilities under the Shared Security Responsibility Model more efficiently. The SSCF asks the provider to implement these controls and make them available to the customer, while the customer retains responsibility for using them, preserving the shared model.
The initiative is supported by SSCF authors and industry voices who emphasise the goal of reducing risk and fostering trust and efficiency within the global SaaS ecosystem.
