Denmark says Russia was behind two ‘destructive and disruptive’ cyber-attacks
According to Associated Press, Danish authorities say Russia carried out cyberattacks against infrastructure and websites in Denmark in 2024 and 2025, including new cases not previously reported. Danish Defence Intelligence Service said Moscow was responsible for “destructive and disruptive” cyberattacks on a Danish water utility in 2024, which caused pipes to burst and left homes temporarily without water.
It also described a series of denial of service attacks that overwhelmed Danish websites ahead of regional and local elections last month. Officials framed the attacks as part of Russia’s broader “hybrid war” against the West and an attempt to create instability. The intelligence service said Moscow’s cyberattacks form part of a wider campaign to undermine and punish countries supporting Ukraine.
