Microsoft Purview delivered 30% reduction in data breach likelihood
According to Forrester Consulting’s Total Economic Impact™ study commissioned by Microsoft, Microsoft Purview achieved a 30% reduction in the likelihood of data breaches by implementing fine‑tuned data loss prevention policies and improving visibility across clouds, devices, and applications. The study, which analyses a composite organisation, notes that this shift translated into tangible savings of more than $225,000 in annual avoided incidents and regulatory fines.
It also highlights operational gains: security investigations were reduced by 75% through centralized audit logs, automated alerts, and machine‑learning policies, while user productivity rose as staff saved 75% of the time formerly spent searching for and classifying data. Compliance automation improved, with manual effort falling by 60% as classification, retention, and audit workflows were automated, and legacy costs were avoided by consolidating tools, estimated at nearly $500,000 over three years.
The TEI results emphasise the value of a unified information governance approach, shown by Purview’s integration of data security, governance, and compliance into a single platform to reduce risk and boost business agility.
