Japan's largest brewer suspends operations due to cyberattack

According to Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd, the cyberattack disrupted several of its operations and caused a system failure affecting its Japan-based activities. The incident has completely suspended ordering and shipping activity, with call centre operations and the customer service desk currently unavailable to the public. Asahi is one of Japan’s largest breweries, holding roughly one-third of the domestic market share, and it employs 30,000 people, producing 100 million hectoliters of beverages.

Earlier today, the company reported that the cyberattack affected only Japan-based operations, and it is unclear if data has been exposed or stolen as the investigation continues. The attack started at 7 a.m., and there are no details about the threat actor or the initial access vector. BleepingComputer noted that no ransomware gangs have claimed the attack publicly at this time.
