MALONE Lam, a 22-year-old Singaporean national and former Miami resident, has pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to one count of participating in a RICO conspiracy. The case concerns an international cybercrime network that used social engineering to steal and launder cryptocurrency valued at more than $245 million.
Lam, who was known in the enterprise by nicknames such as “Anne Hathaway,” “$$$,” and “King Greavy,” organised the operation, identified target victims, and coordinated the roles of conspirators in California, Connecticut, New York, Florida, and abroad. The scheme operated from no later than October 2023 through at least May 2025, with activities including home break-ins used to obtain information enabling the drains on victims’ cryptocurrency wallets.
The conspiracy’s proceeds were then used to fund lavish spending, including nightclub services up to $500,000 per night, luxury handbags, watches, clothing, rental homes in Los Angeles, the Hamptons, and Miami, private jet travel, private security, and a fleet of exotic cars valued from $100,000 to $3.8 million. Law enforcement arrested Lam on 18 September 2025 at his rental home in Miami. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S.
Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, with support from the FBI and IRS-CI, and investigations involved multiple field offices across the United States. A status hearing is scheduled for 8 December 2026.
