DOGE accused of copying entire Social Security database to insecure cloud system
According to Ars Technica, a Social Security Administration official has alleged in a whistleblower disclosure that DOGE officials created “a live copy of the country’s Social Security information in a cloud environment that circumvents oversight.” The disclosure, sent to members of Congress and the US Office of Special Counsel, says the live copy of SSA’s database risks the security of over 300 million Americans’ Social Security data and is evidently orchestrated by DOGE officials employed by the SSA.
It states that DOGE’s actions were taken “under the authority of SSA Chief Information Officer (CIO) Aram Moghaddassi” and violate SSA protocols and policies. The letter was sent by the Government Accountability Project, which is representing Borges. The report was published on 26 August 2025 by DataBreaches[.]Net, citing Jon Brodkinundefineds coverage.
