Google Gemini Arrives on Google TV to Transform Your Living Room
Google has officially announced that its generative AI assistant Gemini will be fully integrated into the Google TV platform, debuting first on the TCL QM9K series before expanding to a wider range of smart TVs later this year. The update preserves the existing Google Assistant voice-control features while elevating the experience with natural language interaction and intelligent content recommendations, turning the TV from a mere playback screen into an AI-powered living room hub.
For instance, a user could ask Gemini to “Recommend a movie my wife and I would both enjoy,” and the system will curate a tailored list with brief descriptions, or identify a title from fragmented memory and provide a concise recap. According to Google, the fusion of Gemini and Google TV creates a multifunctional ecosystem that blends entertainment, learning, and daily life, leveraging multimodal AI to extend the large-screen format to practical, day-to-day scenarios.
Beyond the TCL QM9K, Gemini will also roll out to the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn. 4K Pro, the 2025 Hisense U7/U8/UX models, and TCL’s QM7K, QM8K, and X11K series, with phased rollout planned throughout the year.
