Bluetooth key flaw lets attackers unlock 2.2 million cars

RESEARCHERS at the University of California San Diego have identified a vulnerability in at least 2.2 million vehicles equipped with dealer-installed KARR and SWDS security systems. These systems, manufactured by Acrisure, contain a major flaw as they all utilize the same secure key, allowing anyone with knowledge of the key and a Bluetooth device within five yards of the vehicle to unlock it, honk the horn, flash headlights, or even prevent it from starting.
