Jaguar Land Rover Says Shutdown Will Continue Until at Least Oct 1 After Cyberattack
Jaguar Land Rover said its production lines, halted after a cyberattack in August, will remain at a standstill until at least 1 October, the security news outlet reports.
The company had sent workers home from its factories in central and northwest England on 31 August, with the pause extended “to give clarity for the coming week as we build the timeline for the phased restart of our operations and continue our investigation.” It is working with law enforcement and the UK government’s National Cyber Security Centre “to ensure we restart in a
safe and secure manner.” The government said Business Secretary Peter Kyle and Industry minister Chris McDonald will visit Jaguar Land Rover on Tuesday to speak with companies in the supply chain. According to Associated Press, the shutdown has ripple effects across the UK automotive sector as JLR, owned by India’s Tata Motors, seeks to navigate the disruption.
