Brave launches 'Ask Brave' feature to fuse AI with traditional search
Brave Software has unveiled a new subsystem called Ask Brave that fuses AI with traditional search, unifying the two into a single interface. The feature is free to use and accessible from search.brave[.]com/ask, designed with privacy at its core. Ask Brave combines traditional search results with AI-generated responses, enabling users to follow up on queries in a chat-style format, and can be invoked by ending a query with a double question mark “??” or via the Ask button.
It operates in two modes, standard and deep research, the latter running multiple search rounds to cover blind spots. According to the Brave team, the system draws information from the web and is less likely to hallucinate, with chats encrypted and deleted after 24 hours of inactivity; Brave Search does not log IP addresses, so conversations linked to queries aren’t traceable to individuals.
