Check Point to Acquire AI Security Firm Lakera
SecurityWeek reports that Check Point Software Technologies plans to acquire Lakera, a Zurich and San Francisco-based company specialising in security for Agentic AI applications. Lakera has developed products such as Lakera Red for pre-deployment posture assessments and Lakera Guard for runtime enforcement, and emphasises continuous red teaming and runtime protection against issues like prompt injection and data leakage, reinforced by Gandalf, a large adversarial AI network used for training defenses.
The move is intended to extend Check Point’s existing AI and SaaS security capabilities and provide end-to-end protection for the AI lifecycle, from pre-deployment testing to real-time monitoring of production environments, with Lakera forming the basis of Check Point’s Global Center of Excellence for AI Security upon closing. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, with financial details not publicly disclosed, though Check Point has reportedly agreed to pay an estimated $300 million.
The deal comes on the same day as CrowdStrike’s plan to acquire AI security firm Pangea, underscoring rising enterprise demand for safeguarding generative AI, large language models and autonomous agents, according to SecurityWeek News.
