End of Support for Windows 10 Sparks Security Fears Among Millions of Users
Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025, leaving millions of users worldwide facing critical security concerns. The move ends regular technical assistance, feature updates, and security patches for one of the most widely used operating systems in history. Security experts warn that unsupported systems attract attackers because known vulnerabilities remain unpatched, increasing the risk of malware infections, ransomware, and data breaches for both organisations and individuals.
Microsoft provides several transition options, with the primary recommendation to upgrade eligible devices to Windows 11, though Windows 11 hardware requirements, including TPM 2.0, exclude many older machines. For those unable to upgrade immediately, the Extended Security Updates programme offers critical security patches for Windows 10 devices for one more year beyond the deadline.
