OpenAI API Users Exposed in Mixpanel Security Breach

OpenAI confirmed a data exposure incident involving its API platform due to a security breach at Mixpanel, a third-party analytics provider. The breach, discovered on November 9, 2025, allowed unauthorized access to customer identifiable information, including names, email addresses, and location data. OpenAI clarified that no sensitive data from its systems was compromised, and users of ChatGPT were not affected.

The company terminated its relationship with Mixpanel and is enhancing security reviews across its vendor ecosystem. Users are advised to be cautious of potential phishing attacks and to enable multi-factor authentication for added security.
