Volvo Group hit in massive Conduent data breach

ACCORDING to Security Affairs, a Conduent data breach has affected Volvo Group, with the breach exposing data of nearly 17,000 Volvo Group North America employees and the total impact now quoted as 25 million people. The report notes that SecurityWeek says the breach now affects far more people, including 15 million in Texas and more than 10 million in Oregon.

Conduent disclosed that hackers accessed its network from 21 October 2024 to 13 January 2025, stealing personal data such as names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and health information. Volvo Group North America told the Maine Attorney General that 16,991 employees were affected and that the company only became aware of the incident in January 2026.

The Safepay ransomware group claimed the attack in February 2025, and the breach notification described by Conduent to affected individuals stated steps to protect themselves, though authorities have not reported misuse of the information involved. Volvo Group noted that the incident occurred on behalf of Conduent, which provides backend services such as printing, mailroom, and document processing.
