Google Launches Private AI Compute for Pixel 10, Blending Cloud Power with On-Device Privacy
Google has announced the launch of Private AI Compute, a cloud-based architecture designed to enable advanced AI computations on devices while preserving full data privacy. According to blog[.]google/technology/ai/google-private-ai-compute/, the platform combines the processing power of Google’s cloud-based Gemini models with on-device privacy guarantees, using Google’s custom Tensor Processing Units within a single integrated stack.
The core security mechanism relies on Titanium Intelligence Enclaves, remote authentication, and end-to-end encryption to keep user data isolated from accounts and inaccessible to Google itself. The Pixel 10 series will be the first devices to incorporate this technology, delivering AI features such as Magic Suggest and enhanced Recorder capabilities with broader language support and automatic content summarisation.
Google also plans to include Private AI Compute in its Vulnerability Rewards Program and to expand third-party auditing by making portions of its source code and binaries openly inspectable. This move positions Google in rivalry with Apple by emphasising privacy-friendly, transparent AI computing across cloud and device environments.
