A New Security Layer for macOS Takes Aim at Admin Errors Before Hackers Do
ThreatLocker has released DAC for macOS, following its August 2025 Windows DAC rollout, to give organisations visibility over configuration gaps before they become incidents. The macOS beta uses the existing ThreatLocker agent to scan Macs up to four times per day and surfaces risky or noncompliant settings in the same dashboard used for Windows, with findings grouped by endpoint and category and accompanied by remediation guidance.
High value controls in the Beta include disk encryption status with FileVault, the built‑in firewall status, sharing and remote access settings (including remote login), local administrator accounts and membership checks, automatic update settings, Gatekeeper and app source controls, and selected security and privacy preferences that reduce attack surface. Findings are mapped to major frameworks such as CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, and HIPAA to shorten the path from discovery to fix.
The aim is to help design firms, media studios and production teams who rely on Macs to identify weak spots—like unencrypted drives or leftover admin accounts—and connect them to ThreatLocker policies for remediation and policy alignment with security requirements.
