Origin Energy has not commented on reports regarding a resolution of a cyber extortion threat linked to a former employee's active credentials. The claim emerged on July 24, where an individual named Edison Walthour asserted that stolen data would not be leaked due to a private arrangement with Origin. The hacker initially contacted Origin on July 2, reaching out to board members and security teams, but received no response for nearly three weeks.

Furthermore, there was no ransom demand before the claim was made public. The situation raises concerns about the company's obligations to regulators, the ASX, and the insurance market amid the breach.
