Beer Giant Asahi Says Data Stolen in Ransomware Attack

Asahi Group Holdings says a ransomware attack caused a week-long outage at its domestic subsidiaries, with production suspended at some Japanese factories and a shift to manual order processing. The incident, which was confirmed on 3 October 2025, was limited to domestic operations and did not impact the company’s international businesses, according to SecurityWeek.

The group noted that the hackers exfiltrated data from its servers and that the impact extended to order placement, product shipment, and call centre operations, with the organisation unable to receive email communications from external sources during the disruption. SecurityWeek adds that the company has not disclosed which ransomware group was responsible and that no extortion demands have been publicly reported. Asahi is working to restore affected systems and resume normal operations, while reviewing potential impacts on its financial results.
