Asahi Data Breach Impacts 2 Million Individuals
Asahi, a Japanese beer company, reported a ransomware attack on September 29, 2025, resulting in the theft of personal information from approximately 2 million individuals. The Qilin ransomware group claimed responsibility, stating they stole 27 GB of data. Compromised data includes names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of 1.5 million customers, 114,000 individuals who received messages from Asahi, and 107,000 employees along with their family members' information.
Asahi confirmed no credit card data was stolen and is working to restore operations while enhancing security measures. The recovery process is expected to take several months due to the complexity of their manufacturing networks.
