$29 Million Worth of Bitcoin Seized in Cryptomixer Takedown

Europol announced the shutdown of the cryptocurrency mixer Cryptomixer, which was used for cybercrime and money laundering. The service, accessible on both the clear and dark web, helped users obscure cryptocurrency transactions by mixing their deposits with others. Since its inception nearly a decade ago, Cryptomixer facilitated the mixing of €1.3 billion ($1.5 billion) worth of Bitcoin, often laundering proceeds from ransomware attacks and other illegal activities.

The takedown was part of Operation Olympia, involving law enforcement from Germany and Switzerland, resulting in the seizure of three servers, the service's domain, over 12 Tb of data, and approximately €25 million ($29 million) in Bitcoin. No arrests have been reported yet.
