GOOGLE has reported a significant increase in Chrome vulnerabilities this year, largely attributed to the application of AI in identifying security flaws. In total, over 1,800 bugs have been patched, with 370 fixed in the latest release. An AI-driven tool called an agent harness has notably improved the detection rate of vulnerabilities, including a critical bug that had remained undetected for 13 years.
Google aims to further reduce security gaps by implementing a bi-weekly security release schedule, automating the generation of release notes, and ensuring dynamic updates for users. Additionally, the company is transitioning to memory-safe programming languages to mitigate existing security flaws and enhance browser safety.
