Google Announces $4 Billion Arkansas Investment for New AI Data Center and 600 MW Solar Project
Google has announced plans to invest up to $4 billion in Arkansas by 2027, with a new AI data centre in West Memphis and a 600 MW solar power plant, alongside smart grid and peak-demand reduction initiatives. The package includes a $25 million Energy Impact Fund aimed at promoting energy efficiency and affordability for residents in Crittenden County and nearby areas.
In addition to infrastructure, Google will partner with the state to deepen education ties, offering free Google AI courses and Career Certificates to Arkansans, starting with students at the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University before expanding to broader communities. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, in discussions with Google executives, emphasised that the plan would create jobs and accelerate the state’s energy transition and digital innovation.
The investment marks Google’s most significant foothold in the American South, strengthening its cloud and AI infrastructure, energy capacity, and talent development in the region. 3 October 2025.
