A New Alliance: Perplexity AI Teams Up with PayPal for Global Rollout
Perplexity AI has announced a partnership with PayPal to extend access to its Comet browser, offering US and selected international PayPal and Venmo users complimentary access to a $200 Perplexity Pro subscription. According to PayPal, the promotion is part of a new Subscription Hub within the PayPal app that allows users to manage recurring payments in one place, with promotional banners for Perplexity Pro visible upon entry.
As an extra incentive, PayPal is granting a $50 credit to users who link three recurring payments, with Venmo users also eligible for a 12‑month Perplexity Pro membership through the Venmo app, and the promotion running until the end of the year. The complimentary Perplexity Pro subscription will automatically renew via PayPal next year, so users are advised to disable auto-renewal after redeeming the offer.
The Comet browser, developed by Perplexity AI, integrates artificial intelligence into the browsing experience, including an AI sidebar that can interact with content and perform actions on users’ behalf. Earlier this year Perplexity expressed interest in acquiring Google Chrome for $34.5 billion, but a U.S. district court ruled this week that Google will not be divested, effectively ending that pursuit.
