ZSCALER has completed the acquisition of SquareX, a move that extends its Zero Trust Exchange with in-browser enforcement capabilities. SquareX’s browser extension provides real-time threat detection and response inside Chromium-based browsers and is designed to help security teams gain visibility without affecting user experience. The deal is described as already closed, with terms not disclosed, and SquareX’s installed base being a few dozen customers.
Zscaler plans to integrate SquareX as an endpoint to its Zero Trust Exchange, linking browser protection to the cloud-native platform. Market context cited includes an Omdia report noting that the browser is the endpoint for 85% of work computing activities, and Gartner’s estimate that 10% of organisations deployed secure enterprise browsers last year, rising to 25% by 2028. Dhawal Sharma, Zscaler’s VP of product management, says integration is underway and expected to complete in the next few months.
