Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 8 Gen 5: 36% Faster CPU, 46% More AI Power

Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform, part of a dual-tier flagship strategy alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This new platform aims to deliver elite performance and AI capabilities to a wider range of premium smartphones. Key features include a 36% performance increase over its predecessor, a 76% improvement in web-browsing responsiveness, and an 11% boost in gaming performance due to the upgraded Adreno GPU.

The Hexagon NPU offers 46% more AI processing power, enhancing generative AI capabilities. The platform supports intuitive user interactions through the Qualcomm Sensing Hub, enabling features like real-time user intent detection. Major OEMs such as OnePlus, iQOO, Motorola, and vivo are expected to launch devices with this new platform soon.
