Mozilla to End Support for Firefox on 32-bit Linux in 2026

According to Mozilla Foundation, beginning with Firefox version 145.0, support for 32-bit Linux will officially end, with versions 144 and earlier remaining available for download in 32-bit builds but no further updates. The move comes as most modern Linux distributions have abandoned broad 32-bit support, making ongoing maintenance increasingly difficult.

Mozilla Foundation argues that 32-bit Linux users should migrate to a 64-bit system and install the 64-bit edition of Firefox, which will continue to receive regular feature updates, bug fixes, and crucial security patches. Firefox version 145.0 is scheduled for release in September 2026, after which 32-bit Linux users will no longer receive updates, and older versions may continue to function but without adequate security safeguards.

This marks a continued shift away from 32-bit operating systems in mainstream software support, aiming to reduce spreading resources across ageing architectures.
