SpaceX IPO: Targeting a $1.5 Trillion Valuation to Fund Space Data Centers
Insiders reveal that SpaceX is pursuing an extraordinarily ambitious initial public offering, aiming to raise more than USD 30 billion and potentially setting a record headline by eclipsing the 2019 Saudi Aramco IPO. According to Reuters reports, the listing could occur as early as mid-to-late 2026, with a possibility of 2027 depending on market conditions.
The company is targeting a valuation of roughly USD 1.5 trillion, a figure that would top Tesla’s current market capitalization and astonish analysts given SpaceX’s lower 2025 revenue figure of USD 15.5 billion against Tesla’s USD 95.2 billion. Investors appear to be betting on future potential, driven by Starlink and Starship, rather than present earnings, as part of a plan to channel IPO proceeds into space-based data centres and related AI compute capacity.
In secondary-market trading, SpaceX shares are around USD 420 each, placing the implied valuation above the previously reported USD 800 billion. Rumours that Starlink might be spun off have receded as the full-company IPO plan progresses, with Musk emphasising the combined momentum of Starlink and Starship to expand the company’s total addressable market.
