Hackers Stole Data From Public Safety Comms Firm BK Technologies
BK Technologies, the Florida-based public safety communications equipment maker, disclosed in a regulatory filing that it detected an intrusion on 20 September 2025 and launched an investigation to remove the attacker from its systems. The company said the incident caused some non-critical disruptions, but operations were not affected overall.
Its investigation found that hackers accessed and stole non-public information from compromised systems, with files containing details of current and former employees potentially exfiltrated. BK Technologies noted that it does not believe the cyberattack will materially impact its financial condition or results of operations, and that a significant portion of the costs to contain, investigate and remediate the incident are covered by insurance.
The disclosure names BK Technologies Corp (BKTI:NYSE American) as the affected party, and SecurityWeek reports the development in relation to the SEC-regulated filing. Written by Eduard Kovacs and published on 7 October 2025, the piece does not identify a specific ransomware group behind the intrusion.
