Harden your identity defense with improved protection, deeper correlation, and richer context
According to Microsoft Security Blog, identities have become the new corporate security perimeter, with hybrid work and cloud-first strategies expanding the identity landscape and increasing complexity. The piece notes more than 7,000 password attacks every second in 2024 and that on average 66% of attack paths involve some form of identity compromise, underscoring the urgency of stronger protection.
It argues that ITDR must cover every part of the identity fabric—human and non-human, on‑premises or in the cloud—and calls for a unified approach that bridges identity and security teams to reduce gaps. The article highlights Microsoft Defender for Identity’s sensors for on‑premises identity infrastructure and the general availability of a unified identity and endpoint sensor, facilitating identity protections on qualifying domain controllers and richer visibility.
It also describes seamless integration with Microsoft Entra ID and support for other cloud identities like Okta, enabling a connected, context-rich defence across endpoints, identities, and cloud resources.
