Windows 10 Still on Over 40% of Devices as It Reaches End of Support
According to StatCounter, data for September 2025 showed Windows 10 still installed on just over 40% of devices, as Windows 11 neared half of desktop machines. The SecurityWeek piece notes that TeamViewer’s analysis of 250 million remote support connections found Windows 10 on more than 40% of endpoints, while Windows 11 ran on 47% of devices.
It also cites Kaspersky data indicating only 33% of its customers have upgraded to Windows 11 and 53% remain on Windows 10, with corporate users showing Windows 10 on nearly 60% of systems. Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025, and Microsoft will no longer provide free updates or patches, though ESU offers exist.
ESU costs start at $30 per device for consumers and $61 per device for organisations, with prices doubling annually for up to three years; ESU is free for users in the European Economic Area. Some organisations may still be migrating, as IDC figures suggested a recent surge in PC shipments linked partly to the Windows 11 transition.
