Russian Rosselkhoznadzor hit by DDoS attack, food shipments across Russia delayed

A DDoS attack on Russia’s food safety agency Rosselkhoznadzor disrupted nationwide food shipments by crippling its VetIS and Saturn tracking systems, according to Rosselkhoznadzor. The Mercury platform, part of VetIS, was hit, causing major dairy and baby food producers to report hours-long delays as they couldn't issue mandatory electronic veterinary certificates for shipping meat, milk and other animal products.

Megafon, Rostelecom and Intelsk are working to filter malicious traffic and mitigate the attack, with the agency noting there is no threat to the integrity or confidentiality of the data processed in the systems. Several retail chains were affected and are setting up the Mercury system for emergency operation, while suppliers are negotiating with retailers for shipments without electronic accompanying documents.

The incident marks the fourth attack on Mercury in 2025, and it remains unclear whether full recovery has occurred, with no group claiming responsibility at this time.
