FBI, Google shut down China phishing service tied to $1.9bn loss

The FBI and Google have taken down Outsider Enterprise, a major phishing-as-a-service platform based in China that resulted in billions in losses. The operation, involving the distribution of phishing kits through Telegram, led to attacks affecting hundreds of thousands globally since 2023, stealing 3.8 million credit cards and causing $1.9 billion in losses. The takedown was part of the FBI's Operation Riptide, which seized various phishing domains and assets valued at around $100,000. Google is also pursuing legislation to combat AI-related scams and has collaborated with major telecom firms to block phishing messages.
