Meet Kit: Mozilla Unveils New ‘Friendly Fox’ Mascot for the Firefox Brand

According to The Mozilla Foundation, the organisation has unveiled a new mascot for the Firefox brand called Kit, described as a friendly little fox that embodies a private, open digital companion. The move is part of Firefox’s broader brand identity evolution, aimed at boosting recognition and user engagement without replacing the existing circular fox-and-flame logo.

Beginning 11 November 2025, Kit will gradually be incorporated into the browser, first appearing on the new tab page and then rolling out across Mozilla’s website, promotional materials and other brand touchpoints. Mozilla emphasises that Kit is a mascot rather than a new emblem, intended to unite the browser and its ecosystem with a more human-centred identity.

The article notes Firefox’s market share has been falling and highlights that Google Chrome commands over 60% of the global browser market, with other browsers gradually catching up.
