Retail Giant Walmart Selects Broadcom as Strategic Private Cloud Partner

Retail Giant Walmart has selected Broadcom as its strategic private cloud partner, announced at VMware Explore 2025, with VMware Cloud Foundation set to form the core infrastructure underpinning Walmart’s private cloud and edge computing environments. Walmart, described as the world’s largest retailer, aims to modernise its technology stack by adopting Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation to keep its omnichannel operations seamless across physical stores and online services.

Broadcom emphasised that the deployment will boost agility and scalability, reduce operational complexity, streamline workload migration and enhance security and resilience through automated patching, centralised governance and immutable snapshot technology. According to Broadcom and VMware, the private cloud infrastructure will enable faster rollout of innovations and services while improving resource management and the omnichannel customer experience.

The move aligns with Walmart’s guiding principle of being “people-led, tech-powered” as it expands its globally distributed cloud platforms. The announcement suggests a shift towards a more unified, secure and scalable private cloud foundation across Walmart’s operations.
