IBM Partners with Anthropic to Embed Claude AI in New Development Tools, Reporting 45% Productivity Boost

IBM has announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic to deeply embed Claude’s generative AI models into its software products and development platforms, aiming to create an AI-centric software development ecosystem that enhances productivity, security and governance across the enterprise workflow.

The Claude AI model will be integrated into IBM’s newly designed AI-first Integrated Development Environment, tailored for enterprise software developers, and will assist engineering teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle, including code generation, testing, review and security scanning.

The system is currently in a private preview phase and available to select enterprise clients, with IBM noting that over 6,000 internal early adopters are testing the platform and reporting a 45% average productivity boost while maintaining code quality and security standards. Mike Krieger of Anthropic emphasised Claude’s safety- and reliability-oriented design as a basis for a trusted AI assistant for major global enterprises.

As part of the collaboration, IBM plans to contribute enterprise-grade assets and models to the MCP community to promote cross-platform AI interoperability, and to expand Claude’s integration across its broader product ecosystem.
