EU Sets February Deadline for Verdict on Google’s $32B Wiz Acquisition
The European Union is conducting a Phase I antitrust review into Google’s $32 billion Wiz acquisition and has set an initial decision deadline of February 10, 2026. According to SecurityWeek, the EU Commission will decide whether to clear the deal unconditionally or subject to conditions, or escalate to a Phase II investigation. The article notes that the United States cleared the transaction in November 2025.
Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport is cited as saying that other regulatory hurdles would need to be cleared before the deal is completed. The Commission’s site indicates that about 90% of Phase I cases are resolved in that phase, but the size and importance of this deal could lead to a longer review, typically adding four to five months to the timeline.
SecurityWeek also reports that Google says Wiz products will remain accessible across major cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud, while concerns remain about Wiz’s neutrality under Google Cloud ownership.
