Asahi says crooks stole data of approximately 2M customers and employees
Asahi Group Holdings, Japan's largest brewing company, reported a ransomware attack that compromised the personal data of approximately 2 million customers and employees. The attack, which occurred in September 2025, disrupted operations in Japan, halting ordering, shipping, and customer service. The Qilin ransomware group claimed responsibility, leaking 27GB of data, including sensitive employee and financial documents.
Asahi confirmed that personal information such as names, addresses, and contact details of 1,525,000 individuals who contacted customer service was stolen. The company is investigating the breach and has assured that no financial information, like credit card data, was accessed. Asahi is working on restoring its systems and enhancing security measures.
