Update Chrome now: 20 security fixes just landed

Google has released an update for its Chrome browser that includes 20 security fixes, several of which are high severity, most of which were found in Chrome’s V8 engine. According to Google, the update raises Chrome to 142.0.7444.59/60 for Windows, 142.0.7444.60 for MacOS and 142.0.7444.59 for Linux, and users should update promptly to protect against these vulnerabilities.

The article highlights two notable CVEs: CVE-2025-12428, a high-severity type confusion in the V8 JavaScript engine, and CVE-2025-12036, a critical RCE flaw tied to the JavaScript and WebAssembly internals. It notes that Google paid a $50,000 bounty for the discovery of CVE-2025-12428 and that Big Sleep, an AI-driven vulnerability-discovery project, identified CVE-2025-12036. The piece also explains that other Chromium-based browsers, such as Edge, Opera and Brave, are expected to receive similar updates soon.

To update, it recommends allowing Chrome to update automatically or guiding users through Settings > About Chrome to check for and install the latest version.
