Jaguar Land Rover will extend its production halt into a third week following a cyberattack
Jaguar Land Rover will extend its production halt into a third week, keeping operations suspended until at least 24 September 2025 after a cyberattack hit the company earlier this month. The carmaker said the pause is due to the controlled restart of global operations, with UK dealers reporting disruptions to car registrations and parts supply. The company also confirmed that a data breach occurred, with some data affected and regulators being informed as the forensic investigation continues.
The incident has been linked by Security Affairs to the group “Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters,” which claimed responsibility for the attack. BBC said the shutdown is costing the company at least £50m per week in lost production, with more than 1,000 cars normally produced per week. According to the BBC, suppliers have been told that production will not resume until 24 September at the earliest, though disruption could continue into November.
