Harrods warns customers their personal data could have been stolen by hackers in new cyber-attack

Harrods has warned some customers that their personal data could have been taken in an IT systems breach linked to a new cyber-attack on a major UK retailer. The luxury department store, based in London’s Knightsbridge, said information such as names and contact details of its e-commerce customers was taken after one of its third-party provider systems was compromised.

In a statement, Harrods said: “We have been notified by one of our third-party providers that some Harrods e-commerce customers’ personal data has been taken from one of their systems.” The notice frames the incident as part of the latest cyber-attack affecting a high-profile UK firm. The report notes the information exposed relates to Harrods’ e-commerce customers, but does not specify exact data types beyond names and contact details.

The information is reported by DataBreaches[.]Net, with a reference to a Daily Mail article for further details, according to The Daily Mail. This post was published on 27 September 2025.
