Major Blow to Cybercrime: Police Seize 250 Servers from Dutch Bulletproof Host
Police seized 250 physical servers from a Dutch bulletproof hosting provider operating in the Netherlands, confiscating them during the operation. According to investigators, the hosting company has been exploited by cybercriminals since 2022, with more than 80 cybercrime investigations linked to its infrastructure. The servers hosted a vast number of virtual machines, many of which were used by criminal actors, and the provider advertised full anonymity while stating it would not cooperate with law enforcement.
The operation reportedly shut down thousands of virtual machines used by criminals, and authorities plan to analyse financial records and data to trace those behind the crimes, sharing intelligence with Europol to support wider investigations. Although Dutch authorities did not disclose the provider’s name, information circulating within the cybersecurity community indicates the seized servers belonged to CrazyRDP, a The Hague data centre that was offline at the time. CrazyRDP offered VPS and RDP services with no KYC verification and no logs, factors that made it a frequently recommended option among hackers.
