Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon X2 Elite Chips: 5.0GHz Clock Speed to Power Next-Gen AI PCs
At the Snapdragon Summit 2025 in Hawaii, Qualcomm officially unveiled two PC-class processors—Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite—designed for Windows PCs. Fabricated on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process (N3P), both chips feature Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon CPU, a rearchitected Adreno GPU, and a next-generation Hexagon NPU, with the Extreme variant rated at 80 TOPS of AI compute.
The X2 Elite Extreme is positioned for the ultra-flagship segment, offering an all-core up to 4.4GHz and single/dual-core speeds up to 5.0GHz, while the X2 Elite targets flagship laptops with up to 4.4GHz all-core, 4.7GHz single-core, and 4.4–4.7GHz dual-core boost depending on SKU. The redesigned Adreno GPU delivers up to 2.3x performance-per-watt, and both processors support Windows on Snapdragon, Copilot+, and other advanced features; the first devices are slated for launch in early 2026. According to Qualcomm, the X2 Elite family marks a shift toward a high-performance Arm-based AI computing ecosystem for PCs.
