LineageOS 23.0 Released on Android 16: New Camera App, Catapult TV Launcher, and Virtualization Support

LineageOS 23.0 has been released on Android 16, with the project noting that the update is based on Android 16 QPR0 rather than 16 QPR1 due to Google’s patch cadence. The release introduces a rewritten Camera app offering features such as JPEG Ultra HDR, RAW, and RAW+JPEG capture, alongside other enhancements across LineageOS 20 to 23.0, including integrated security patches from September 2024 to August 2025.

A new Catapult TV launcher has been designed for Android TV devices, emphasising simplicity and user control over the home screen. Version 23.0 also extends virtualization capabilities, thanks to work by developer 0xCAFEBABE to expand QEMU integration, making it easier to run LineageOS in virtual machines without dedicated hardware.

Additional improvements cited include updates to SeedVault and Tar, WebView upgraded to Chromium 140.0.7339.51, and refinements to charging and fast-charging controls, with the release dated 13 October 2025.
