Meta recently announced Muse Image, an AI image generation tool that uses public Instagram profiles to create images of individuals without their consent. Users can opt out of this feature via their Instagram settings, but this only stops future generations; existing images remain unaffected. The feature raises privacy and security concerns, as it allows the potential for impersonation and fraud through AI-generated images.

To enhance protection, users are advised to make their accounts private and enable multi-factor authentication. Meta's Oversight Board has recommended better safety measures.
