Beyond Chatbots: Microsoft Edge Unveils New AI Features for Automated Browsing
Microsoft Edge is set to gain two new AI features in Copilot mode, named Copilot Actions and Journeys, according to Microsoft. Copilot Actions lets users issue complex commands in natural language—via voice or text—to automatically open web pages, attempt logins, fill forms, and even complete cross-website tasks.
Journeys organises past browsing history by topic or project and offers contextual suggestions when a related subject is revisited, with a personalised recommendation system that can use explicit consent to analyse prior activity for more relevant responses. Microsoft notes that users retain full control over Copilot operations, with features that can be enabled or disabled and visual indicators shown when data is accessed or processed.
Copilot Actions and Journeys began as part of Edge’s Copilot mode rollout, which started with integration into Edge as early as July this year, and are currently available only in the United States under a limited preview with broader international rollout planned later.
